Middle Tennessee State offensive coordinator Tony Franklin has been offered the same position at Louisiana Tech. Franklin was in Ruston, La., on Sunday, but has not yet accepted the job. A decision is expected as early as today. When reached by phone Sunday afternoon, Franklin declined comment. As the first-year coordinator and architect of his unique four-wide spread system, Franklin led MTSU’s offense in a dramatic turnaround last season. The Blue Raiders improved from 84th in scoring offense in 2008 to 23rd nationally last season at 32 points per game. MTSU also ranked 27th in rushing offense, 42nd in passing offense and 27th in total offense last season. The Blue Raiders exploded for 41.3 points per game in a season-ending seven-game winning streak, including 42 points in a New Orleans Bowl victory over Southern Miss. – News Journal
