Pat Hill’s contract extension still hasn’t been signed, and the timetable for its completion remains unclear. Fresno State athletic director Thomas Boeh said the football coach’s extension — originally announced in December — is going through legal review, and the process will be completed before the end of Hill’s current contract, which expires Dec. 31. “It’s not that it’s not important,” Boeh said. “It’s not urgent because it doesn’t take effect for over half a year.” — Fresno Bee

Pat Hill Has Two Years Remaining on Fresno State Contract

It has been 10 years since the Fresno State Bulldogs were WAC winners. Fresno State walloped UC Davis 51-0 in an opener, with a date at Big Ten Conference foe Wisconsin on Saturday, then back home for WAC bully Boise State. Pat Hill has two years remaining on his contract. He will coach those two years, and he hopes well beyond with the Bulldogs, with the same fervor as always. And with the same zest to schedule anyone. He’d take on the Raiders if Al Davis would call him back. “Recruits tell me the reason they come here is the (tough) schedule,” Hill said. “I’m not going to change. I don’t worry about my contract. I worked my first 27 years in college football with one-year contracts. If I don’t get it done here, then make a change. But we’ll get it done.” – Sacramento Bee

Scoop: Huskies Pursuing Hill?

Sources close to Fresno State Coach Pat Hill tell Football Rumor Mill that informal contact has been made with the coach regarding the soon to be vacant Washington job.

Rumors were swirling just a few weeks ago that Hill would be the favorite for the Arizona job should Mike Stoops be shown the door. That appears less likely now, although it’s still a very real possibility.

Could there be a bidding war in the offing for Hill? Would he leave? It’s difficult to say. Hill is said to be very comfortable in Fresno. It is believed the coach would listen to a substantial offer from a major BCS school with the resources and desire to compete at the highest levels. That scenario would seem to favor Washington and their President Mark Emmert who helped build a national power at LSU over Arizona, a team that has never even been to the Rose Bowl.
