Mike Locksley’s Rap Sheet Longer than His Resume

Let’s introduce New Mexico athletic director Paul Krebs. Recently, his most high-profile employee hauled off and punched another employee, resulting in—according to police reports—a “split lip.” For this, said high-profile employee was issued a “verbal reprimand” and a “follow-up letter” was placed in his personnel file. For an assault. That high-profile employee is coach Mike Locksley, Krebs’ big hire last December after Rocky Long, the school’s most successful coach, walked away citing unreasonable expectations and a lack of fan support. Earlier this year, before Mike Locksley ever coached a game at New Mexico, he was accused of sexual harassment, age discrimination and retaliation in an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint filed by a former administrative assistant on the football staff. That incident, Krebs says, is “close to resolution.” Meanwhile, New Mexico lost to rival/little brother New Mexico State last week for the first time since 2002, and with a loss this weekend at Texas Tech, will be 0-5 for the first time since 1994. Krebs: “Now, Mike, we can’t have you hitting other employees.” Locksley: “You want some!?” – Sporting News
