The Oklahoma State defensive coordinator job now remains as the only on-field position Mike Gundy has left to fill, and the search is believed to be on-going. Dallas Cowboys linebacker coach Reggie Herring, who earlier this week denied reports that he had interviewed for the job, could still be a candidate, along with Pitt defensive coordinator Phil Bennett, TCU defensive coordinator Dick Bumpas and East Carolina defensive coordinator Greg Hudson. Wake Forest defensive coordinator Brad Lambert and Miami defensive coordinator Bill Young could still be in the mix, as well as Glenn Spencer, who served as OSU’s defensive line coach in 2008. – Oklahoman
Brady Hoke has done some impressive work in the few weeks since he became State’s latest coach, the eighth to hold office since 1980. He’s barely had time to fill out his coaching staff, but his hires have been exceptional. If you just go by Hoke bringing in Rocky Long as defensive coordinator and Al Borges to run his offense, that’s enough right there. These are men with a pedigree. And then, as I went in to see Hoke for the first time - I was vacationing (sorry) when he was hired - I ran into Brian Sipe, on his way to campus human resources. The former Aztecs quarterback and NFL MVP, who had done marvelous and ambitious things coaching at little Santa Fe Christian School, had just been hired to tutor quarterbacks. – Union-Tribune
