Scratch Jim Harbaugh off the Jets’ list of candidates. He never was a serious candidate anyway, but the Jets did interview him last Thursday. Tuesday night, Harbaugh released a statement through Stanford, saying he isn’t going anywhere: “In response to persistent reports speculating my interest in other coaching positions, I would like to unequivocally state that I am 100 percent committed to Stanford and I look forward to leading this football program for years to come. Due to the complete physical and emotional investment that has been made by everyone associated with our program, I believe we are building a program that will contend for the Pac-10 championship for years to come. I have no desire to coach anywhere but at Stanford at this time.” – New York Daily News

Stanford football coach Jim Harbaugh issued a statement through the school’s media relations department Tuesday that made it clear he will return to the school to coach for at least the near future. “In response to persistent reports speculating my interest in other coaching positions, I would like to unequivocally state that I am 100 percent committed to Stanford and I look forward to leading this football program for years to come,” Harbaugh said. Harbaugh, a graduate of Palo Alto High, was rumored to be interviewing for one of the available NFL head coaching positions, including the Oakland Raiders. – Palo Alto Online
