Schultz will interview in the coming days according to the source, who requested anonymity. he Pump Brothers, best known for their work in basketball, are leading a search that most think will lead to New Mexico State hiring a minority. San Francisco 49ers secondary coach Vance Joseph may be of interest to New Mexico State. He last coached in college in 2004 at Bowling Green. Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson also is a prime candidate. In addition, keep an eye on San Jose State linebacker coach Kent Baer, USC linebacker coach Ken Norton and Nebraska secondary coach Marvin Sanders. – Rivals.com
College football analyst/commentator Terry Bowden had no comment in regard to the New Mexico State football head coaching vacancy. Bowden also said that he had no knowledge of his brother, and former Clemson head coach, Tommy Bowden having any interest in being the next coach of the Aggies. The Bowden’s are legendary names in the football world, mainly because of their father and current Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden. Terry, who is currently a football commentator on Westwood One Radio and a featured columnist for Yahoo!Sports.com, coached at the Auburn University from 1993-98, racking up a 47-16-1 record during his tenure at the school. Recently, Bowden had voiced his desire to return to the sidelines and his name was briefly linked to the Aggies’ position. “No, I can’t talk about it,” Bowden said in reference to the NMSU vacancy. “It would be better for me not to comment.” When asked about the possibility of his brother Tommy having connections to the vacancy in Las Cruces, Bowden said he had no idea. “I have no knowledge of that answer,” he said. – Sun-News
